Use Your Stash 2017 Work Line-Up

2017 Work Line-Up

You and I are eyewitnesses to the huge backlog of WIP’s and stash yarns. The enormous challenge sits right there, in front of us, taunting. The last remaining step as we get started is to create a “2017 Work Line-Up,” a step-by-step list of our work in the order of completion. As I said in an earlier post, I am working on the project which can be finished the quickest–this will give me some encouragement right from the start. It is also the biggest project, the one that I utterly dislike the most.

2017 Work Line-Up

Here is the line-up of projects I have decided to work on this year:

  1. Finish the Hexagonal Afghan.1st in my work line-up
  2. Take the odd granny squares and create an afghan from them.making something out of nothing
  3. Work the black granny squares into either an afghan or something else.#3 in my Work Line-Up
  4. Create a pillow cover with some previously-made squares (I actually have a pillow form that needs a cover). #4 in work line-up
  5. Finish a baby afghan that is sitting around waiting on time and energy.Baby afghan to finish
  6. Crochet my grandson a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle hat.
  7. Crochet a couple more baby afghans.
  8. Start on a corner-to-corner and get it finished.
  9. Crochet a bowl.

Grandiose Ideas

My list is long, and I know that I will never get them all done, but I sure can try my best! And imagine how great it’s going to feel as I accomplish each one!

My goal is to get these done quickly — use up stash yarn and get completed projects out of my work queue — as I need to make room for the new yarn I want to buy this year. This might not work out as I plan, but I am sure going to try!

There are odds-and-ends (projects) waiting on work here and there, such as hats that are half finished, which will work well in my take-along project bags.

I can already sense the rhythm of the work as it gets organized into a pattern of completion, and that will help me with this challenge.

Do Not Fail to Plan First!

Like all work, a little planning goes a long way. Until you get a plan in place, you will waste time going from one project to the next trying to decide what you should work on first. Either lay out the projects in the order you wish to work on them, or write down your plan of attack.

This feels a little like the Great British Bake Off! I started on the hexagon afghan on January 15. But, I’m a little flustered. I’ve ripped it out and crocheted it back together too many times in the past two days. Not exactly how I wanted to start the Challenge!

How is it going at your house? Leave a comment and let me know so I can cheer for you!

Talk to you later,

Karen
